En la industria de hoy en día se utilizan multitud de compuestos que pueden ser
perjudiciales para el medio ambiente. Uno de los tipos de compuestos perjudiciales
para el medio ambiente son los hidrocarburos. La RAE define hidrocarburo como:
“Compuesto resultante de la combinación del carbono con el hidrógeno”.
La contaminación del agua mediante hidrocarburos conforma uno de los principales
peligros para la vida acuática. Esto se debe a que los hidrocarburos tienen una densidad
inferior a la del agua y, por tanto, se acumulan en la superficie, creando una capa
superior impermeable. Los dos principales aspectos contaminantes y, por ello, también
más importantes son: el hecho de que son un tipo de residuos que aumentan la demanda
de oxígeno y los efectos tóxicos que sus componentes generan en el agua (impidiendo
la transferencia de luz, la correcta aireación y originando problemas de acumulación
dentro de la cadena trófica del ecosistema acuático con el que este en contacto). Por
todo ello es necesario evitar que se viertan grandes cantidades de este tipo de residuo.
En la planta de Michelin situada en Aranda de Duero se usa como fluido hidráulico de
trabajo una emulsión de agua y un aceite hidrosoluble formando una especie de
taladrina que recibe el nombre de agua mecánica. El agua mecánica se usa
específicamente en la sala de prensas y trabaja dentro de un ciclo cerrado, sin embargo,
este circuito tiene pérdidas debido a fugas y purgas del sistema. Es esa pequeña
cantidad de agua mecánica que sale del sistema la que puede conllevar un peligro para
el medioambiente, concretamente es el aceite presente en la emulsión el que contiene
los hidrocarburos. Para evitar sus posibles efectos la planta siempre ha contado con
instalaciones diseñadas específicamente para retener la parte aceitosa de la emulsión
y, posteriormente, retirarla antes de verter el residuo acuoso a la red municipal de
saneamiento.
En la actualidad se cuenta con un sistema que, a pesar de conseguir parámetros dentro
de la autorización de vertidos de la planta y de la legalidad vigente, en la gran mayoría
de las ocasiones, no se adapta totalmente a las necesidades actuales.
Por todo ello se ha creado un proyecto en busca de una mejora del sistema de
tratamiento del agua mecánica. Este Trabajo Fin de Grado corresponde a la memoria
del proyecto desde su fase inicial de compresión de la situación actual hasta la
instalación del nuevo sistema de tratamiento consistente en separación mediante una
centrifugadora.

One of the types of harmful compounds to the environment are the hydrocarbons. The

Water contamination by hydrocarbons is one of the main dangers for aquatic life. This
is because hydrocarbons have a lower density than water and therefore accumulate on
the surface, creating an impermeable upper layer. The two main polluting aspects and,
therefore, also more important are: the fact that they are a type of waste that increases
the demand for oxygen and the toxic effects that their components generate in the water
(preventing the transfer of light, the correct aeration and causing problems of
accumulation within the food chain of the aquatic ecosystem with which it is in
contact). For all these reasons, it is necessary to avoid large quantities of this type of
waste being dumped.
At the Michelin plant located in Aranda de Duero, an emulsion of water and a watersoluble oil is used as the working hydraulic fluid, forming a kind of cutting fluid called
mechanical water. The mechanical water is used specifically in the boilers room and
works within a closed cycle; however, this circuit has losses due to leaks and system
purges. It is that small amount of mechanical water leaving the system the one that can
entail a danger to the environment, specifically it is the oil present in the emulsion that
contains the hydrocarbons. To avoid its possible effects, the plant has always had
facilities specifically designed to retain the oily part of the emulsion and, subsequently,
remove it before discharging the aqueous waste into the municipal sanitation network.
Currently there is a system that, despite achieving parameters within the discharge
authorization of the plant and current legislation, in the vast majority of cases, is not
fully adapted to the current needs.
For all these reasons, a project has been created in search of an improvement of the
mechanical water treatment system. This Final Degree Project corresponds to the
memory of the project from its initial phase of understanding the current situation to
the installation of the new treatment system consisting of separation through a
centrifuge.
