Este artículo pretende mostrar la vida y la obra de uno de los poetas más grandes de Perú. Se trata de José María Eguren (1874-1942), poeta incluido en la estética modernista. La primera parte del trabajo se dedica a los aspectos personales del autor donde se conocerá el proceso de crecimiento y maduración artística y en la segunda, pasaremos a internarnos en sus versos para tratar desvelar el misterio que envuelve su poesía, analizando el poema «La marioneta misteriosa» y sacando a relucir aspectos poéticos poco estudiados por la crítica como es el concepto de la ternura egureniana. The Peruvian literatura has great authors who are deployed along the different periods of its history. This article tries to show the life and work of one of the poets largest in Peru, inserted in the Modernist aesthetics: this is José María Eguren (1874-1942).
