Departamento de Ciencias Históricas y Geografía Arquitectura Burgos Historia Arte Rural Architecture History Art Arquitectura Architecture La presente tesis aborda un detallado estudio sobre la actividad artística en general, y arquitectónica en particular, desarrollada dentro de la comarca de la sierra burgalesa durante la Edad Moderna. No obstante, el estudio excede este propósito tan concreto para adentrarse en un análisis en profundidad de la realidad de aquel período, hasta convertirse en una historia total. La Sierra burgalesa cuenta con una personalidad bien definida, sin embargo, no ha contado con estudios de naturaleza histórica o artística, si exceptuamos el periodo medieval. En el presente trabajo se expone, además, un modelo de estudio de los fenómenos históricos y artísticos protagonizados por el mundo rural. En todo ello se incluye un claro componente reivindicativo, que aboga por la conservación y difusión de su importante patrimonio cultural.________________________ This Thesis aims at gaining an insightful grasp of artistic production, in broad terms, and architectural creation in particular, which took place in the Eastern Range within Burgos province from the XVth century to the XVIIIth century. However, the scope of research goes beyond this as it endeavours to look into every aspect of life at that time, growing into a comprehensive historical study. In the province of Burgos, the Mountain Range is one of the areas with a well defined personality. Paradoxically, there has not been any historical or artistic study except for the Medieval Age. The study proposes a method to be undertaken when studying rurally-based historical events and artistic creation.
