En 1904 la ruina inminente de la iglesia burgalesa de San
Nicolás de Bari propició que su ecónomo y capellán, D. Anselmo
López, acudiera a los bautizados en ella recabando auxilios materiales
para su rehabilitación. De esta convocatoria surgió la figura providencial
del burgalés D. Segundo Murga e Íñiguez Ruiz de Castro,
marqués de Murga, que mediante su aportación material y su tenacidad
obró el milagro de la restauración, convirtiéndose en principal
mecenas de la misma y en generoso benefactor de la sociedad burgalesa
del primer tercio del s. XIX.
In 1904 the imminent ruin of the burgalese church of
Saint Nicholas de Bari made its trustee and chaplain, D. Anselmo
López, come to baptized in it in search of material aids for its rehabilitation.
From these summons there arose the providential figure
of D. Segundo Murga e Íñiguez Ruiz de Castro, Marquess of Murga,
who by means of his material contribution and his tenacity worked
the miracle of the restoration, turning into principal patron of the
church and into generous benefactor of the burgalese society in the
first third of the XIXth century.
