De esta manera el renombrado Hospital del Emperador de Burgos, cuyo antiguo esplendor se ha ido amortizando paulatinamente a través de los siglos XVII y XVIII, pasa a convertirse en Casa de Corrección de mujeres, o Casa-Galera, hasta que ya, a mitad del siglo XIX, la administración de justicia del Estado liberal determina su extinción definitiva. At the end of the 18th century charity and pilgrim hospitals lost the relevance they used to have in medieval times, circumstances that the Church used for the establishment of pious charity instead of those, such as the correction of women offenders.
