The Merindades of Burgos are land of noblemen. A native
family, the García de la Yedra, is documented since the mid-16th
century. This work follows the familiar saga for seven generations:
from the local nobility level they reach Church beneficiaries (canonries,
inquisition posts, etc.), admission as knighthoods into Military
Orders and even being appointed as Titled Noblemen. They moved
to Murcia and mainly to Cádiz, from where the “Carrera de Indias”
(trade and migration to America) was started. Data from the social
and economic circumstances in the family life along these centuries
are provided.
