El rico patrimonio que hoy disfrutamos representa un
largo proceso histórico, “el fluir del tiempo”, en el que va reelaborándose
cuanto nos es legado. Bajo esta comprensión, se analizan las
transformaciones experimentadas por la villa de Briviesca en los
siglos XVII y XVIII desde la óptica barroca.
Como consecuencia de las mismas su imagen se define, hasta nuestros
días, en calidad de pieza marcadamente unitaria tanto a niveles
espaciales como formales. Sin embargo, según demuestra la documentación
reunida, es obra de actuaciones sucesivas sobre el espacio urbano, los edificios con mayor protagonismo y el propio caserío contemplado
en su conjunto.
The valuable cultural heritage that we currently enjoy
represents a long historical process, “the flow of time”, in which what
has been bequeathed to us is being reelaborated. Under this comprehension,
the transformations that Briviesca experienced in the
17th and the 18th centuries are being analysed from the point of view
of the Baroque period.
Thus, its present whole appears as a piece marked by its unitary character
both spatially levels and formally ones. However, as the information
gathered shows, this has been the result of successive transformations of urban space, the main buildings and the whole vernacular
architecture itself.
