Todo ello se pone de manifiesto durante el reinado de Felipe III y encuentra un elocuente testimonio en la ciudad de Burgos que fue, durante este periodo, escenario de numerosas celebraciones y festejos, y donde el Concejo y el Cabildo catedralicio medirían sus fuerzas en una ciudad cada vez más sacralizada, a la sombra de su catedral.
