Empleando la metodología de datos de panel, concluimos que el valor de marca, los derechos de entrada y la inversión inicial son señales que los franquiciados españoles tuvieron en cuenta para la apertura de un establecimiento de una enseña de franquicia durante el periodo 2002-2008.; This working paper focuses on the choice of a franchise by a potential franchisee who stars a store for the first time. The aim is to analyze the relationship between two signals – brand´s value and price- which have been sent by the franchisor, and the choice of a franchise. The Signaling Theory has been used to analyze this relationship. Using data panel methodology, we conclude that brand´s value, initial franchise fees and investment are the signals which have been taken into account by the Spanish franchisees to start a franchise store during period 2002-2008. 2013-06-01T00:00:00Z
