No obstante, con el paso de las centurias y, especialmente a partir del siglo XVI con el Concilio de Trento hasta el siglo XXI, acontecerán numerosas dificultades donde bajo el báculo de la abadesa las monjas han logrado una “adaptabilidad” al contexto histórico que han prolongado la subsistencia de la vida monacal así como la buena conservación patrimonial hasta nuestros días. Since 1175 when it became a membership of the Cister, the Vallbona de les Monges monastery has been the Catalonia´s most important female abbay, receiving privileges that allowed it to become as an independent catholic institution being a direct affiliated of Citeaux.
