Utiliza la actual división provincial como marco para estudiar la presencia y evolución del gusto barroco italiano en la región. Se han identificado diferencias cuantitativas y cualitativas entre provincias, evidenciando distintas trayectorias históricas y preferencias artísticas. Asimismo, se ha examinado el papel de comitentes tales como instituciones religiosas, entidades públicas y clientes privados que en la adquisición y conservación de estas obras han permitido aportar un prestigio social y legado cultural. Destaca el catálogo de 228 pinturas con descripciones, referencias actualizadas e imágenes a color, que incluye obras inéditas y nuevas aportaciones. En conjunto, la investigación reivindica la relevancia del patrimonio pictórico barroco italiano en Castilla y León y propone nuevas líneas de estudio sobre este ámbito artístico. This doctoral thesis examines seventeenth century Italian painting preserved in Castilla y León, using the current provincial division as a framework to analyze the presence and evolution of Italian Baroque taste in the region. It identifies both quantitative and qualitative differences among provinces, revealing distinct historical trajectories and artistic preferences, while also exploring the role of patrons such as religious institutions, public bodies and private collectors, whose involvement in the acquisition and preservation of these works contributed to social prestige and the formation of a lasting cultural legacy. Particular emphasis is placed on a catalogue of 228 paintings, featuring detailed descriptions, updated references and color images, including previously unpublished works and new attributions.
