Con la pubertad el ser humano da un salto cualitativo en su sexualidad. Los cambios puberales
traen consigo una especificación del deseo sexual (Fernandes, 1991; López y Fuertes, 1994). Esto posibilita
que afloren, también, la búsqueda del otro y de la satisfacción, elementos constitutivos de la
sexualidad adulta.
La sexualidad está ampliamente vinculada al género. Tradicionalmente han existido unos patrones
de comportamiento sexual diferenciados para varones y mujeres. La sexualidad masculina se ha caracterizado
por la actividad y el marcado interés sexual. La sexualidad femenina, por su parte, se ha vinculado
a la pasividad, la prudencia e incluso, a la inhibición sexual. Además, existen unos “scripts
sexuales” que definen las situaciones sexuales de forma precisa, indicando lo que se puede o no hacer.
Etiquetan a los sujetos dándoles roles precisos (Fuertes y López, 1997), es decir, determinan una
secuencia sexual muy clara y el papel que ambos sexos deben realizar.
Siguiendo esta línea argumental, hemos tratado de determinar la influencia del sexo del individuo
en sus conocimientos, actitudes e incluso motivaciones e inquietudes sexuales. Para ello hemos explorado
estas cuestiones en una muestra constituida por 247 adolescentes burgaleses escolarizados en 2º
de ESO y 3º de ESO.
Puberty brings a quantum leap to the human being’s sexuality. Puberal changes bring along a specification
of the sexual desire (Fernandes, 1991; López y Fuertes, 1994). And so, the search for the other
and the satisfaction, constituent elements of adult sexuality, come to the surface.
Sexuality is closely linked to gender. Traditionally, different patterns were set for women and men’s
sexual behaviour. Masculine sexuality’s main feature was activity, and an accentuated sexual interest.
Feminine sexuality, in turn, was linked to passiveness, caution and even sexual inhibition. In addition,
there’s this “sexual scripts” to define the sexual scenarios precisely, showing what can and can’t be done. This labels the subjects, providing them with specific roles (Fuertes y López, 1997) that is, bringing
about a patterned sexual tendency, and framing the role both sexes must perform.
Following this line of thinking, we have tried to determine the influence that gender might have in
the knowledge, attitude and even motivations and interests the individual will show towards sex. In
order to shed some light on this matter, we have carried out a research on a sample of 247 adolescents
schooled in the 2nd and 3rd year of ESO.
