Estudio dedicado a la arquitectura de la iglesia de Santa
María de Villadiego. El edificio se construyó junto a un templo anterior
de época románica del que quedan restos en la capilla de Santa
Ana. La primera fase se realizó hacia finales del s. XIII, siguiendo el
modelo gótico, y de ella solo permanece la portada. La segunda fase
se realizó a finales del s. XV y en el s. XVI siguiendo el modelo característico
de la escuela burgalesa para las iglesias salón o “Hallenkirche”. Destaca la sobriedad de los muros externos frente al espacio
amplio y armonioso interno cubierto por bóvedas de crucería
estrellada decoradas con diseños geométricos y rosáceas, con profusión
de nervios combados, claves muy desarrolladas, cabecitas de
ángeles e, incluso, escudos nobiliarios. Por el estilo de algunas bóvedas hemos relacionado este templo con la familia Lanestosa que trabajó
en los cercanos de Olmillos de Sasamón, Villaveta o Castrojeriz
durante la primera mitad del s. XVI.
This study is dedicated to the architecture of the church
of Santa María, in Villadiego. The temple was built next to a previous
Romanesque church of debris remaining in the chapel of Santa Ana. The first phase took place towards the end of XIII century, in gothic
style, and it only remains the main front. The second phase was built
at the end of XV century and the XVI, in the typical style of Burgos
School designated "Hallenkirche". Stresses the sobriety of the outer
walls facing the comprehensive and harmonious internal space covered
by starry vaults decorated with geometric designs and rosettes,
plenty of nerves warped, highly developed key, heads of angels and
even coats of arms. For the style of some vaults have related this temple
with family Lanestosa who worked in Olmillos de Sasamón, Castrojeriz and Villaveta during the first half of the XVI century.
