El juicio de residencia es una institución que sirve al
control de los oficiales públicos al finalizar su mandato, y de ese modo
afrontar las responsabilidades en que hubieren incurrido en su gestión.
Sus orígenes se sitúan en la Edad Media, recibiéndose en la legislación
castellana a través de las Partidas, y se generalizó en la Edad
Moderna. Fue una institución propia de la autoridad real, adaptada
al régimen señorial. En el presente caso, el control se ejercita por medio del juez designado por el propio señor, aquí el duque de Frías, y
la residencia le es tomada a su teniente de gobernador en Salas de
los Infantes y a los capitulares comprendidos en su jurisdicción.
The residence impeachment trial is an institution that
serves as a control of public officials at the end of its mandate and in
this way deal with the responsabilities that could had been included
in its gestio. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, received in
the Castillian legislation trough Las Partidas and becomes widespread
in the Modern Age. It was one of the institutions in their own
real authority adapted to stately regime. In the present case, the
control is exercised trhrough the judge appointed by the Lord, here
the duke of Frías, and the residence is taken over by his leutenant
the governor in Salas de Los Infantes and to the municipal officials
within its jurisdiction court.
