La villa burgalesa de Arija y su comarca fueron tierra de
frontera durante la Guerra Civil española. El frente de batalla se
mantuvo durante catorce meses (julio de 1936-agosto de 1937) más
o menos estabilizado en sus cercanías, para luego desmoronarse. En
ese periodo Arija sufrió en primer término la represión republicana
que afectó a las personas de derechas y que la Causa General recoge,
y después le sobrevino la represión franquista, no sólo física, sino
también económica y más cruda y prolongada en el tiempo.
The village of Arija, in Burgos province, and its region
were borderland during the Spanish Civil War. The battlefront was
maintained for fourteen months (July 1936 to August 1937), more or
less stabilized in its surroundings, to fall off later. In that period Arija suffered in the first term the republican repression that affected
the right-wing people and thus collected by the Causa General, and
later came the franquist repression, not only physical, but also economic and more crude and prolonged in the time.
