Benito Pérez Galdós (1843-1920) published the novel
Miau on April 1888, which was included in the Contemporary
Novels series, as called by himself. The action takes place in Madrid,
the writer’s favourite scenario, who reflected in countless passages
the geography of the capital. The plot revolves around the
honest civil servant Mr. Ramón Villaamil, who remains redundant
two months left from retirement, and around his family, in which
the bright presence of his grandson Luisito Cadalso stands out. Accompanied
by these two characters, two references to the city of Burgos are found, one of them being explicit and the other one being
veiled.
