<dc:description>The stained-glass windows of the 19th c. are a faithful reflection of the mentalities and tastes of a time
of profound change within Europe that favored the recovery of a forgotten art form. Spain was slow to join this
trend and the early days of the restoration of the Cathedral of Leon constitute an eloquent testimony of the
limitations that existed in that respect. The proposals of the architect in charge of its restoration, Matías Laviña,
reflect his interest in this art form and his preference for stained-glass of a pictorial nature, the perfection of
which he thought to achieve, as if on a test bench, intervening in the works that had been conserved.</dc:description>
