Useful precursors of 4-functionalized-1 H-indoles A1 Guilarte Moreno, Verónica A1 Castroviejo Fernández, Mª Pilar A1 García García, Patricia A1 Fernández Rodríguez, Manuel A. A1 Sanz Díez, Roberto K1 Química orgánica K1 Chemistry, Organic AB 2,3-Dihaloanilines have been proved as usefulstarting materials for synthesizing 4-halo-1H-indoles. Subsequentor in situ functionalization of the prepared haloindolesallows the access to a wide variety of 2,4- or 2,3,4-regioselectivelyfunctionalized indoles in good overall yields. As noefficient synthetic routes to 2,3-dihaloanilines have been describedin the literature, different approaches to the preparationof these 1,2,3-functionalized aromatic precursors are nowpresented. The most general one involves a Smiles rearrangementfrom the corresponding 2,3-dihalophenols and allows the preparation of 2,3-dihaloanilides in a straightforward andsynthetically useful manner.
