AB 21st-Century societies have a globalized, digitalized, and in-terlinked character. However, they have also brought alongrelevant challenges for humanity. The Spanish UniversitiesRector Conference (CRUE in its Spanish acronym), in its documentabout Universities in 2030, remarks some of the global issues weare facing nowadays. These issues include the refugee crisis, globalwarming, extreme poverty, inequality, or illiteracy. Universities in gen-eral, and the University of Cordoba in particular, cannot ignore thisreality. Therefore, it must become a leader in knowledge creation andsharing, especially in areas concerned with well-being, democraticcoexistence, peace and social justice. The 2030 Agenda and the Sus-tainable Development Goals (SDGs) can be taken as a reference interms of actions to be taken and aspirations to look forward to.
