To analyse any type of written source from the palaeographic and
diplomatic perspective requires a profound study of its external characters
(material on which it was written, handwriting, punctuation, special
signs, seals, ink, etc.) and internal characteristics (diplomatic structure,
language, contents, information, etc.) as the aim is to obtain exhaustive
and systematic information about the source. Such signs, in particular validations, in the Becerro Gótico of San
Pedro de Cardeña are studied here
