La romanización del oppidum celtibérico de Termes: transformaciones urbanísticas y cambios socioculturales a través de la arqueología y las fuentes

Abstract

Con la etnogénesis de la Celtiberia como punto de partida, se procede al estudio del núcleo urbano indígena de Termes, su modelo de ocupación del territorio y su estructura urbana, así como la organización política y las estructuras socioeconómicas y socioculturales hasta el contacto con Roma. La conquista de la ciudad arévaca por Tito Didio (98/97 a. C.) inició un proceso de romanización que transformó el oppidum celtibérico en una civitas romana que conocemos gracias a las Fuentes y a las investigaciones y excavaciones realizadas en el yacimiento de Termes (Montejo de Tiermes, Soria) desde finales del siglo XIX.

With the ethnogenesis of Celtiberia as a starting point, we proceed to the study of the indigenous urban centre of Termes, its land-occupation model and its urban structure, as well as the political organization and the socio-economic and socio-cultural structures until the contact with Rome. The conquest of the Arevaque city by Titus Didius (98/97 B.C.) started a process of romanization that transformed the Celtiberian oppidum into a Roman civitas that we know thanks to the sources and the investigations and excavations carried out in the settlement-pattern of Termes (Montejo de Tiermes, Soria) since the end of the 19th century.
