Ideology is one of the most studied questions in social sciences. In previous decades it has been argued that political parties’ ideologies have blurred and reflected fewer differences in their political foundations (Bell 2000; Lipset 2001; Dalton 2006). However, the concepts of left and right remain as vivid in political conflict as they were in the past and have not ceased to remain as a point of reference for political actors, as shown by the fact that it is still the most important single factor explaining citizens’ vote (Thomassen 2005; Montero and Lago 2010).en
