A simple, easily available, andenvironmentally friendly dioxomolybdenum(VI) complex hasproven to be a highly efficient and versatile catalyst fortransforming a broad range of starting nitroarenes involvingseveral redox processes. Not only is this a sustainable, stepeconomicalas well as air- and moisture-tolerant method, butalso it is worth highlighting that the waste byproductgenerated in the first step of the sequence is recycled andincorporated in the final target molecule, improving theoverall synthetic efficiency. Moreover, selected indoloquinoxalineshave been photophysically characterized incyclohexane and toluene with exceptional fluorescencequantum yields above 0.7 for the alkyl derivatives.
