Luis Gallardo en su contexto artístico (1870 – 1937)

Abstract

El trabajo analiza la obra pictórica de Luis Gallardo desde una perspectiva global. Se realiza una aproximación al catálogo general del pintor burgalés que pueda resultar de utilidad para la posterior elaboración del catálogo completo del artista. Se exponen un conjunto de ideas y consideraciones en torno al estilo, con especial atención a la luz y el color, a la técnica empleada por el pintor y a sus temáticas más habituales entre las que destacan los paisajes burgaleses. También se atiende a la evolución experimentada por su pintura desde sus años de juventud hasta su etapa de plenitud y madurez. Se establecen paralelismos y relaciones con destacados pintores coetáneos, prestando una notoria atención al contexto artístico en el que se desenvolvió la trayectoria artística de Gallardo.

In this Master’s thesis the work of painter Luis Gallardo is analysed from a global perspective. This is a first attempt to catalogue the paintings by this artist from Burgos which might prove useful when a full catalogue of his work is compiled in the future. A series of aspects regarding his style are considered, paying special attention to the light and colour in his paintings, to the technique he employed as well as to the most common themes in his works, among which landscapes from Burgos stand out. The evolution of his style from his early years as a young artist to the peak of his career is examined. The parallelism and his relationship with other prominent artists of his time are established, devoting close attention to the cultural background in which Gallardo pursued his career as an artist.
