    Abstract
This work reports the development of two different sensors using screen-printed carbon electrodes (SPCEs) for the determination of imipramine (IMP) by differential pulse voltammetry. On one hand, a bare SPCE has been successfully applied to the determination of this compound and, on the other hand, the modification of this SPCE with metallic gold nanoparticles (AuNPs/SPCE) have led to an increase in the sensitivity of IMP determination. Both sensors have been characterized obtaining good capability of detection (14.1 μM and 0.28 μM for SPCE and AuNPs/SPCE, respectively) and reproducibility (4.75 % and 6.87 % for SPCE and AuNPs/SPCE, respectively) values. The specificity of both sensors towards different compounds has been also analyzed and, the developed electrochemical systems have been successfully applied in the determination of IMP in commercial pharmaceutical preparations.
