El 19 de abril de 1820 quedó suprimido definitivamente el Tribunal de la Inquisición de Logroño, activo desde el año 1570. Se produjo apenas un mes después de la nueva proclamación de la Constitución de Cádiz, y en medio de un ambiente de euforia liberal. Se cerró como consecuencia del decreto de abolición de la Inquisición de 9 de marzo con la realización de un inventario de causas, documentos y libros que duró ocho días, dirigido por las autoridades civiles, judiciales y eclesiásticas, que quedaron depositados en un arca de tres llaves.
On April 19, 1820 the Tribunal of the Inquisition of Logroño was definitively abolished, active since 1570. It happened just one month after the new proclamation of the Constitution of Cádiz, and in an environment of liberal euphoria. It was closed as a result of the decree of abolition of the Inquisition of March 9 with the realization of an inventory of causes, documents and books that lasted eight days, by the civil, judicial and ecclesiastical authorities, which were deposited in an ark of three keys.
