Daylighting is a design concept of buildings recognized as a key strategy in reducing the energy consumption and improving visual comfort and well being of their occupants. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), artificial lighting makes up 14% of electrical consumption in the European Union and 19% worldwide. In addition to improve the energy efficiency of buildings, it has been demonstrated that daylighting has positive effects on human health and productivity. Energy standards strongly recommend incorporating daylighting strategies into building design. However, daylighting design is complex due to its changing nature. Likewise improving the occupants' life, daylight implementation is also related to technical and architectural solutions such as heating and cooling. Therefore, it is necessary balancing the positive health effects and energy savings in artificial lighting with the the possible thermal and visual discomfort caused by excessive sunlight penetrations and glare.en
